Slow Metamorphosis

I just got back in the office. We are having our convention at the Ja.cob Ja.vits so on the big big dress down Friday – I’m in a freaking suit. That sucks. But oh well. I came in to work early to finish up some stuff and then went to the ja.vits and worked there for half the day and then came back into the office to give evaluations to my team. I think I was fair on my evaluations, I made sure to put everything on there, I left nothing out and if you thought you were getting away with it, you aren’t. So needless to say I still have 2 more evals to do on Monday but thus far everybody that I did a review for did say that I was fair and that everything that was on there was something they knew. I hope that this means they will meat the goals I set for them for the coming year. Next week is going to be really hectic for me. I will probably doing some late nights and working next weekend as well. I have a few deadlines to make so hopefully it will all go well.
In a moment of pure randomness I just have to say, why are women so freaking nasty. The women’s bathroom at my job has to be the nastiest place on earth. I went to use the bathroom and noticed period blood all over a roll of toilet paper (no one wants to touch that shit), shit stains all on the toilet and under the rim, can people not flush? I am just totally disgusted.
This weekend – I want to go see the movie with Denzil, Saturday night I am going out for dinner with my 2 oldest friends from H.S. and Sunday unfortunately I have to work the convention again – eww. So basically the next few weekends aren’t going to be anything to write home about. Yve’s baby is due soon so I have to make that trip up to Rochester again soon. Ohh I can’t wait to see the baby’s little face.

I love being a woman except when I am pms’ing.

My moods change with the wind. One second I am happy and shit and the next I am so pissed off and then right after I want to cry. Then to top it off, I crave the weirdest combination of foods. Cheese and chocolate, and beef…all together. It can be donuts or a chocolate bar but as long as it has chocolate in it I have to have it…it could be cheese curls or combos or whatever. It’s the nastiest thing too because I will go to McDonald’s get me a 2 cheese burger meal and then eat 2 chocolate cupcakes and some cheese doodles and be so satisfied, then immediately after feel guilty cuz of course I feel like a fat sow after eating all that crap. Of course these days I have to keep my diet in mind but Monday night I blew it. I weighed myself and the scale said I had gained back 2 pounds, so I swiftly said F this and got me some combos and some chocolate and that was my dinner. And of course right afterwards I felt like crap so I went right to sleep. Then to top of I took the train home and when I got to my stop realized I had left my car and house keys at work on my desk. I tried to get in touch with L but couldn’t. So I had to take the train all the way back to work, grab my keys and then commute back again towards my house. Then all of a sudden on the train ride home I was just so vexed that L couldn’t be reached that I started to fume and cuss him out in my mind. *sigh* what is my issue? SO instead of picking a fight with him which I tend to do when I am pms’ing I just didn’t call him and kept it real brief with him…cuz otherwise I get all testy and it’s not a pretty sight. Needless to say, I’m still craving but I am trying to be good about the food aspect and I have decided I’m not stepping on that scale anymore at least not when I’m pms’ing.

Anyway off of the crazy ranting. I have evaluations to complete and get myself together for this weekend. I have to work our bi-annual Vision Expo show. The VVE (Vision Expo East) is held at Ja.cob Jav.its in NY every march and of course it’s this weekend from Friday – Sunday and I have to work both Friday and Sunday. Blah. Let me get this day cracking.

This weekend was cool. Friday night I hung out with FS and Jules (jules was my roomie in college). We had a nice dinner at their new place and their place was so cute. The colors they painted the walls were so cool and inviting and the whole setup was really nice and comfortable. FS hooked up a salman dinner that was the bomb and we hung out talked about old times, looked at pics, watched VH1 Soul and just had an all around good time.
Saturday - I went to church, sang, worked in treasury and then came home to sleep off the killer headache I had all day. I chatted on the phone with Reenie for most of the night and caught up with some other folk as well before I started reading The Kite Runner for the bookclub meeting. So late....the meeting was sunday so needless to say I stayed up until 5:30 sunday morning to finish the book and it was SOOOO good. That book had me in tears.
Sunday - bookclub meeting...it was nice. There were 5 of us and we had Mexican this time around. And just basically talked about the book and ate away. Desert was supposed to be a apple thingie with ice cream but why they gave us the wrong one that had chicken in it...yeah chicken with ice cream. Eww. lol.

Its Friday and a sista is HAPPY!


And that is cuz I handled my business today and I'm so done with people trying to push their job in my lap...as if I dont already have enough crap to do! So let me tell you. I am a manager...I manage a team of 5 people and plus temps... I deal with our data, I deal with the photo studio, I deal with the production people, I deal with our clients and I deal with the subscribers. So after all is said and done - if it aint in my job listing then I'm sorry I'm not doing it. The Accounting guy is forwarding calls to me - ask N about the bill...how does that fit under what I do again? So after being chewed out by one of our most vocal clients I hauled my ass into my managers office and told her yeah um this aint making it and I'm not doing it anymore - which promoted her to call our publisher who suggests things need to change. Hell yeah! So right now I'm feeling good cuz thats another weight off of my shoulders! Yea!

So all this morning I was helping one of my team members with her work...since yesterday I have been back and forth to her desk helping her figure out her production for her book...helping her with shit that I'm NOT even a pro at myself. She is catching all kinds of attitude and I'm just looking at her like ok...take a breath. I'm not gonna front when I first did what she was doing. I was clueless - but I follow directions WELL and I paid attention when someone showed me something and I played around with it until things started to make sense. So when when I am at her desk she leaves...is gone for like a few minutes. And she does this alot. I am NOT here to do your work...yeah evaluation time is upon us and I got some things to take off my chest.

Anyway don't get it twisted I'm still in a helluva good mood. I booked my hotel room for Jamaica and I'm buying my ticket in a week or so and I'm getting spa prices so I can really treat myself when I am there. I wanna come back loose as a goose!

My weekend plans?

Tonight - One of my roomates from College (jules) and her boyfriend (FS) invited L and I to their new apartment for dinner. In college FS used to cook for the girls and he was throwing down! so I am looking forward to that. It will be nice.
Saturday - church - I have to sing and I have to work treasury again - plus I got these people addicted to Coldstone so now they want me to bring another cake.
Sunday - Gym - and my bookclub meeting.

And somewhere in there I'm trying to catch up on as much sleep as I can muster..

A friend sent me this email and I was absolutely mortified!
What in the world happened to good old Whi.tney? Why isn't there some kind of intervention? *sigh*

Weekend was good. I did alot of hanging out and running around. Saw 16 blocks with a friend from college and you know I lub Mos so I was happy. I also saw Final Destination 3 with L and yea can we say graphic? Those death scenes everytime are getting more and more viscious and its like ewwwwww. I dont know how I feel about the suspense at the end though. Did you know that the Knicks City dancers are doing a routine to reggaeton?

On the news this morning they noted that they would be teaching kindergarten children about HIV. Would you want your 5 or 6 year old to learn about that?

Besides me of course.

Today is hectic. I want to post but I will have to do it tomorrow.

Got Glasses?

I watched AI last night and needless to say… I wasn’t all that impressed. The start of the show was shaky for me. The performances weren’t anything to write home about and since it is a show dedicated to vocals in my mind they sucked. Lol. Man.disa was ALRIGHT – she didn’t wow me. Yve called me last week and told me she was great – I can hear the power in her voice but that song wasn’t a great one for her. My personal favorites are # 9, 10 and 11….lol yeah I voted and what. I liked Kath.erine, Par.is and Ta.ylor, they blew it up last night. That rocker dude I don’t remember his name was kinda good too and the girl that sang the song but forgot all the words has a nice voice but seeing her perform was painful since she aint remember the song. Lol

Moving along – L got his job with Tran.sit! YAY! I’m so happy and so proud of him – he has wanted it for awhile but I don’t like to write about things or talk about them lest I jinx it all. But now that it’s in the bag I can say it. He says to me last night “This is the job that will secure our future” Erp! What does that mean? HMM But nevertheless I’m happy and I’m proud of my baby. The next year and a half will be rough because when you work for transit your schedule sucks, but hopefully we will be alright. Time will tell.

On the gym front – yesterday I really surprised myself. I was trying to push myself on the cardio since I wasn’t doing any weight training yesterday. I didn’t want to go to the gym at all to be honest, I just wasn’t feeling it. But I have been going with my coworker and she keeps me going - we have like a support team so that helps us out both a lot. I push her and she pushes me. Needless to say I got on the elliptical and stayed on for 55 minutes, I did 5.7 miles and burned 520 calories…go me go me!. I was hurting but I felt good afterward. I gotta keep chanting JAMAICA! JAMAICA! JAMAICA! lol

I have a few people celebrating birthdays today so HAPPY BIRTHDAY YA’LL.

My weekend was alright. I did in fact end up doing a whole lot of nothing which was very nice.

Friday I left work at like 5 on the dot (which never happens) and ran over to Cold.stone to get the strawberry passion cake. Then I took it home stuck it in the fridge and took my cousin’s daughter back to BK. I stayed over there awhile chatting it up with my cousin and then broke all kinda’s Sabbath rules by going to Ta.rget on gateway. I ended up not finding the bookshelf I wanted so I headed home.

Saturday While I totally intended to drag my behind to church. I had showered and had breakfast and then said let me lay down for a little bit more before getting dressed. The next thing I knew it was like 11:30 and the breakfast gave me some wicked pain. It might have been acid reflux it might just have been bad indigestion who knows but I didn’t get out of bed for church that day. The cake is still in my freezer and it’s calling my name but I am resisting.

Sunday I was mad at L Sunday because of something that happened on Saturday, hmm so mad. I was fuming when I went to bed but when I woke up Sunday I was like you know what. I’m not even studying that boy. He called me early that morning and apologized and sometimes it’s so HARD for me to let go of things but I saying this mantra to myself “To err is human and to forgive devine”; I’m working on it. I got up and my mom and I went to the gym together. I worked it out real good too: my mom was so funny she was so funny huffing and puffing and had 2 little beads of sweat talking about “I’m ready” after only 15 minutes. Lol. Um NO. I took her home eventually and took a shower got ready and went to the movies. I went to the matinee of Dave Chapelle’s Block Party – and I went by my lonesome just like in the good old days. Oh I loved it. My sheroes Jilly from Philly and Erykah were rocking it out. Loved it. I won’t give up too much cuz I know Donna aint seen it yet SHH. You have to see what Erykah does with the hair on stage. FUNNY!. After I got out the movie L called and asked me to come over so I headed over there and we went to target where I found my dresser after all and I got the cutest dress and a black studded top. He was being on his best behavior since he knew I was still a little tight so he purchased my items for me. We went back to his house and he made up to me good and proper and then made me the bomb dinner.. Yeah the chicken wings were great and I tore them up. Lol. We lay up in the bed and watched the first season disc of season 1 of 24. Then we came back to my house were he got some work done and we watched the season finale of “Flavor of Love”. All I have to say about that one is why did NY think that he was going to pick her after she gave up ALL the goods. Why buy the cow when he already got the milk for free. Erp!

Monday It was the first day back, it was crazy hectic and I just had so much work to do it didn’t make any sense. But I made it through. Right afterwards I headed to the gym and worked it out with my trainer. He was killing me. I was so tired when he was done I was walking like a 95 year old woman. Lol. But like he said you will be right for your trip this summer. Yea Man! Did I tell ya’ll I’m going to Jamaica this summer? Yea I have a family reunion in August in Jamaica and the we are hotel staying at is so nice.

I just could NOT get it in gear this morning. It took all the energy I had to get out the bed. But today will be an interesting day. My boss is off somewhere skiing with her fiance and that only means all her calls will be forwarded to me. HMM. I have a plan this weekend to do a whole lot of nothing. Saturday I'm going to church and I traded my work week so I will be in the treasury this weekend. I promised them I would bring them a Cold.stone Cake, the loved the Strawberry Passion one so thats what they are going to get. After that I'm trying to go see my boyfriend Mos Def in 16 Blocks with L. Sunday I'm going to the gym, to target to get a new bookshelf. I will come home and put that together and swap my books over, and if I'm feeling it I will go to BK to bring my sister the old shelf since she wants one and then I will come home and lay up in the bed and watch movies for the rest of the day. I think I’m going to have to do a weekend update.

Wednesday – Instead of going straight home, I had to take food to my sister’s best friend, she is a flight attendant and was staying overnight and was hungry. On the way there I got lost, so by the time I left there it was already late. My sister and brother came to my house and I brought them a whole pizza which they killed along with my mother. Then my brother asks…alright where is the scissor? He was too happy about cutting the braids out so I said I wasn’t going to do it that night. Hung out for a little while and talked about the family reunion in Jamaica this summer. Should be interesting…

Thursday – came home after working out and my mom and I went to BJ’s to do some food shopping. Ok so why does moms go and have no money on her, no checkbook, no credit cards no nothing. *smh*. Got home and proceeded to take my braids out. It only took me an hour! I wet it and put conditioner on the braids and worked it through and when I started to take them out they slipped right out.

Friday – I met my brother and sister in the mall and we hung out for a little bit. It was my brothers last day before he went back to Canada, but he had to leave out early and he was going to visit a cousin. So we parted ways and I went home and my sister and brother went to our cousin’s house.

Saturday – Went to the doctor for my bi-yearly exams. I liked the new doctor who saw me, better than the old one. She did the breast examination right – and she made sure to sit there and talk to me, and answer all my questions. I am one of those people who go in with a list of questions and concerns and if you don’t take the time to answer them and make me feel comfortable I get all kinda stank. Yes and I know it! The other lady…I don’t like her too touch because she tries to rush you through everything so she can go on to her next patient and I am SO not feeling that. Anyway afterward I went to church….came home to feed my grandmother and get myself together for me and L’s date night. We do this on a regular where we go out on a bon a fide date rather than just hanging out and looking at each other. This time we went to Medieval Times….remember that? He got the idea from watching Flava Flav – lol. I had never been so I said what the hell. It was cool. I had a good time. Lots of yelling and carrying on especially since we were apparently in the drunken section – those people know how to have a good time. Our knight the “green” knight won but then he got killed by the traitor – we were duped! Afterwards we took pics with the king and the princess and of course the green night and left. We took the scenic drive back from Jersey through the city and it was so beautiful. I tried to take pics through the moving car window but er um…I think I may have only got one good one. On the way home we decided to stop and see Madea’s family reunion. I loved it! L stayed awake…need I say more? Got back to my house…snuggled up and called it a night.

Sunday – L left early to go with his aunt somewhere and I lay in bed for awhile before getting up and heading to the gym. Afterwards went to get a manicure and pedicure and then came home where I cleaned and cleaned. Afterwards I headed out to BK to get my cousins daughter – she is staying with us this week and took her back to my house. Washed my hair and prepped it for this challenge. Donna – I don’t think I am going to be able to do it. I twisted it all but I don’t like it. I am going to take it out in a few days and then get the front corn rowed and the back twisted and then go from there.

Her is my ikea dresser. I chose cuteness over practicality and so for that reason, I STILL dont have drawer space *smh*. Oh well. I love the color and the trim kinda matches my paint job. All I need now is a new loveseat and a nice rug and then I'm good.
My brother is here from Canada and I am going to hang out with him and my sister in BK tonight. I will be going over there right after I leave from the gym and taking my funky self over there. I havent seen him since this summer - which was the last time he was here and he is uber special to me. He calls me all the time to tell me he loves me and that I am beautiful. Sheesh - he is such a good big brother. He has promised to help me take my braids out - picture that! My braids have GOT TO GO! They are looking so dusty to me, I just can't even take it. So tonight they are out. I'm thinking of doing a color....a darker one. This reddish color is I dunno -- getting on my nerves. I will figure it out soon.
